<p>The aim of this consumer survey, named CAMME in France, is to collect information on consumer behaviour and expectations in terms of expenditure attitudes and savings.</p>
<p>This survey is carried out each month by the Member States of the European Union.</p>
<p>It also measures cyclical trends as perceived by households (changes in prices, etc). The CAMME survey thus contributes to the evaluation of the French economic outlook.</p>
<p>This survey permits us to calculate the consumer confidence indicator. This analysis is frequently commented on in the media using the household confidence indicator.</p> |

<p>Afin de suivre l'opinion que portent les ménages sur leur environnement économique et sur leur propre situation personnelle, une enquête de conjoncture auprès des ménages est réalisée chaque mois par les États membres de l'Union européenne.</p>
<p>Cette enquête, baptisée Camme en France, a pour objectif de recueillir, mois par mois, des informations sur le comportement des consommateurs, ainsi que sur leurs anticipations en matière de consommation et d'épargne.</p>
<p>Elle mesure également les phénomènes conjoncturels tels qu'ils sont perçus par les ménages (évolution des prix, etc.). L'enquête Camme fournit ainsi une aide au diagnostic conjoncturel de l'économie française.</p>
<p>Un diagnostic conjoncturel et des prévisions à court terme de consommation des ménages est établi. Cette analyse est fréquemment commentée dans les médias reprenant l'indicateur de confiance des ménages.</p> |

<p>The monthly consumer confidence survey is part of a system set up by INSEE in 1958 to gather household opinions on certain economic indicators, to study intentions to purchase household equipment and French vacations.</p>
<p>Initially, the survey was carried out half-yearly, and then from 1965 four-monthly.</p>
<p>In 1972, the survey was conducted on a identical basis within the European framework. Since that date, the European Commission has set up an European system for business and consumer surveys to which the Member States of the European Union now contribute.</p>
<p>In January 1987, the survey became monthly and was renamed Camme. Its questionnaire is a repeat of the cyclical part of the four-monthly survey, adapted to European demand.</p>
<p>In 2003, the CAMME survey was restructured with the following three aims:</p>
<ul>

<p>to adapt the questionnaire to new European requirements;</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>to improve upstream and downstream statistical processing;</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>to modernise computerised processing.</p>
</li>
</ul>
<p>At the heart of the system, the "economic situation" module is the one in which the main changes have been introduced, with in particular two quantitative questions on prices: a quantified opinion in percentage terms on the evolution of prices over the last twelve months and over the next twelve months.</p>
<p>This module is structured around an "opinion on the general economic situation in France" section and an "opinion on the household's economic situation" section.</p> |

<p>L'enquête de conjoncture auprès des ménages s'inscrit dans un dispositif mis en place par l'Insee depuis 1958 avec pour objectif de recueillir l'opinion des ménages sur certains indicateurs conjoncturels, d'étudier les intentions d'achats de biens d'équipement des ménages et les vacances des Français.</p>
<p>A l'origine, l'enquête est semestrielle, puis elle devient quadrimestrielle à partir de 1965.</p>
<p>En 1972, elle est réalisée de manière harmonisée dans le cadre communautaire européen. Depuis cette date la Commission européenne a en effet mis en place le système européen harmonisé des enquêtes de conjoncture, auquel contribuent maintenant les États membres de l'Union européenne.</p>
<p>En janvier 1987, l'enquête devient mensuelle et prend le nom de Camme. Son questionnaire est une reprise de la partie conjoncturelle de l'enquête quadrimestrielle, adaptée à la demande européenne.</p>
<p>En 2003, une refonte de l'enquête Camme est conduite sous le triple objectif suivant :</p>

<p>adapter le questionnaire aux nouvelles demandes européennes ;</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>améliorer les traitements statistiques amont et aval ;</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>moderniser son traitement informatique.</p>

<p>Au cœur du dispositif, le module "conjoncture" est celui dans lequel sont introduites les principales modifications avec notamment deux questions quantitatives sur les prix : opinion chiffrée en pourcentage sur l'évolution des prix au cours des douze mois passés et au cours des douze mois à venir.</p>
<p>Ce module s'articule autour d'une partie "opinion sur la conjoncture générale en France" et d'une partie "opinion sur la situation économique du ménage".</p> |
