In the results of the census survey, a couple is formed by a man and by a woman aged of 14 and older, living in the same main residence, and which meet at least one of following both criteria: declare both to be married or to live in couple. The couples so defined are de facto couples, the spouses can be or not married. Within the household a couple, with or childless, constitutes a family. Note Since 2004, the question " do you Live in couple? " was introduced into the census survey in order to better define the de facto couples.
