It is grouped under the generic name "educational collective hosting of minors" (article L227-1 of the French social action and family code) and is characterised by :- the educational collective hosting of minors to enable minors to practice educational and relaxation leisure activities ;- an organiser (corporate body or natural person).This hosting is regulated by the State (mainly by the ministry in charge of youth) and is supervised by a qualified person. These are educational, active places organised around an educational project and a pedagogical project. They alternate organised group activities and periods of relaxation.The regulations currently in force determine seven types of hosting, divided into three categories: hosting with accommodation, hosting without accommodation and scout centres. Until 31 August 2006, they were divided into the following three categories: leisure centres, holiday centres and holiday placements.
